Carl S. Clawans passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2017 in his home in Delray Beach, FL. Born in Newark, NJ on a July 23, 1930 to Abraham and Fannie Clawans, graduated from Weequahic High School and later from the Rutgers University School of Pharmacy.
Carl married Muriel Trager on November 1, 1953. After serving in the medical corps of the US
Army in Germany, Carl worked as a pharmacist and opened Hamilton Drugs in Franklin Township. He later worked as a pharmaceutical research scientist at Schering Plough from which he retired in 1993. Carl and Muriel moved from their home in North Brunswick to Delray Beach in 1993 to enjoy their retirement.
Carl is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Muriel, his sons Wayne and Lee, daughter in law Christine and granddaughter Allison. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and their children.
Carl was pre-deceased by his parents and his sister Libby (Willner).
Funeral services will be held at Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple, 222 Livingston Ave, New Brunswick, NJ on Tuesday, October 31, at 11:30am. Interment will be at Mount Lebanon Cemetery, 189 Gill Lane, Iselin, NJ.
