Michael “Mike” Patrick Kean died unexpectedly and peacefully on Sunday, January 5th, 2025, in

Pembroke Pines, FL at the age of 44. Michael is survived by his parents, Peter and Dianne Kean;

wife, Soranlly “Angie” Kean; daughter, Katie Kean; and sister, Melissa “Missy” Cuprak.

Michael was born to Peter and Dianne Kean on June 12, 1980, in Worcester, MA. He married his

wife Angie on February 7th, 2003. They were married for 21 years and shared one child together.

Michael was most proud of his wife and daughter. Michael was bursting with pride at the birth of

his daughter. When Katie graduated high school, college, and got her master’s degree by going to

school year-round he was overjoyed.

He graduated from American InterContinental University in 2007 with a B.S. degree in Criminal

Justice. Michael had an interesting beginning to his career starting as a bartender, then working

for FPL, before finding his calling at Miami Dade College as a Senior Staff Associate.

Michael was most passionate about video games, and he often indulged in this hobby. He started

video games in junior high and played throughout his adult life. He later started his own clan called

“Like A Boss”. Video games were a way to unwind for him. He made many friends over the

internet and also played with family and friends.

Legos were also another one of his accomplishments and passions. He built the Titanic, various

modular buildings, the gauntlet from the Avengers, a train of Legos he designed that would run

around the ceiling in his man’s room, and Destiny and Star Wars spaceships. There are many more,

but too many to mention. These Legos required patience, persistence, and often a gentle touch in

making. He became a master builder of these in his family’s eyes.

Michael also loved the outdoors and the ocean. He spent many hours scavenging for treasures,

seashells, sand dollars, and starfish from the coast of Maine to the coast of North Carolina, and a

little time in Florida and the Keys. He always did this with friends and family. At the beach, he

often could be found sporting a small fishing net, checking out crabs, little fish, urchins, and snails.

Michael loved his whole family deeply; we know this in our hearts. He surely will be missed by

his daughter, wife, parents, sister, whole family, and all of his friends. We love you, Mike. Rest in

peace. Know that you are loved very much!!

A memorial service will be held at Scarano’s Funeral Home in Hollywood, FL on January 31st

from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Michael’s life. In lieu of flowers,

please send donations to the Epilepsy Foundation in honor of Michael Kean.
