Obituary of Michael Warren Boyd

Michael Warren Boyd passed away at age 84 on February 15, 2025, in Hollywood, Florida after a short but intense battle with liver cancer. Michael was born on October 12 of 1940 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was the only son of Warren Walter Boyd and Geraldine Virginia Boyd (nee Leahy) who preceded him in death. He graduated from Salesianum High School in 1958. Subsequently, he graduated from the University of Miami with a bachelor’s degree in history and a minor in chemistry. He then attended the University of Miami Law School, obtaining his Juris Doctor degree. Michael was a corporate lawyer. For over twenty-three years, he worked for Burger King Corporation, rising from a real estate attorney to Director of Real Estate Law and then Secretary in International Counsel. He was well-respected for his expertise in franchise law; his contracts were used as the base for franchising documents. After leaving Burger King, he was a consultant for Blockbuster Video. He then became General Counsel of Ciro Inc, followed by Associate General Counsel of Kenny Rogers Roasters, then General Counsel of Tutor Time. Michael was a renaissance man in that he authored three books, painted landscapes and portraits, and sang beautifully. He enjoyed attending several reunions with friends from “Sallies”. He was also an avid reader, who enjoyed intellectually stimulating conversations, classical music, and coffee. Michael is survived by his wife, Therese Ann Boyd (nee Gorzynski), who shared fifty wonderful years with him; his son, David Michael Boyd, MD, of Arizona, and his two granddaughters, Isabella (Bella) and Elisabeth (Ellie); his son, Paul Francis Boyd, of Florida; and daughter, Caitlin Maura Boyd, of Florida. He truly loved his family. They were his world, along with his constant little furry companion, a dog, Coco. He is greatly missed by all of us who had the privilege to know him.
