It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mariamma Thomas, age 94, on February 23,
2025. Known lovingly as “Ammachi” by her family, she was born on March 3, 1930, in Peroor to Uthupa
and Aleykutty. She was the second eldest of five siblings and got married to her loving husband P.U.
Thomas in 1948, lived in Neericadu, and then moved to America permanently in 2008.
Ammachi is survived by her siblings, Chacko Pulikathottil and sister Ida SVM.
She is survived by her children: Marykutty and Mathew Jacob, Tiny Thomas, Annie and Babychan Idiculla,
Gracy and Tomy Joseph, and Roy and Elcy Thomas.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Jiju and Jemy Jacob, Justin Jacob, Jenny and Jayan Joseph, Susan
and Robin Raju, Tilda and Steve Kawalek, Taniya and Simon Esthappan, Jason and Simi Idiculla, Jessica
and Abilash John, Jeffy and Nithya Joseph, Jensen and Jisha Joseph, Jason and Anin Thomas, Joshua
Thomas, Jasmine Thomas, and Joshwal John.
Ammachi is survived by her great-grandchildren: Ayden and Alex Jacob, Malia Jacob, Nick and Luke
Joseph, Isabel, Emma, Liam, and James Raju, Lily and Oliver Kawalek, Jake, Sophie, and Joshua Idiculla,
Carter John, Avi Joseph, and Grayson Thomas.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Uthuppan Thomas, her daughter Aleyamma Thomas, her
brother Mathai Pulikathottil, her sister Aley Mathew, and her daughter-in-law, Femina Thomas.
Throughout her life, Ammachi was a constant source of happiness and strength. She was the heart of her
family, beloved by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. A proud matriarch, she
cherished daily visits from children who lived right next door, as well as from her grandchildren and
great-grandchildren who often filled the home with laughter and love. She was always open to family,
offering comfort, wisdom, and a sense of humor.
Ammachi was known for her incredible spirit and her unwavering strength. Her legacy of love will
continue to live on through all who were fortunate enough to know her. Ammachi will always be
remembered for her warmth, her laughter, and her immense love for her family.
The Pinakuzhathil family expresses their heartfelt gratitude for the love and support they’ve received
during this difficult time.
In Repose Thursday, February 27, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Joseph A. Scarano Presidential Circle Memorial Chapel-Hollywood, Florida. Funeral Mass Friday, February 28, 2025 at 9:00 A.M. St. Jude Catholic Church-Ft. Lauderdale, Florida following Burial at 2:30 P.M. Hollywood Memorial Gardens North Cemetery. Please keep the Thomas family in your thoughts and prayers. The Joseph A.
