Obituary of Cordelia Puntervold
Please share a memory of Cordelia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cordelia Puntervold, a cherished wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully on March 18, 2025. Cordelia was born in Manhattan, NY, on June 18, 1930, to the late Horatio and Elizabeth Cooper. Her predeceased siblings Hubert, Elizabeth (Nellie), Julia (died age 2), and Sarah Ann (Sally) helped Cordelia live the best of times in this strick Irish-Catholic family. She had fond memories of going to St. Patrick’s School in Bayshore, NY where she loved the nuns and would enjoy attending Mass and taking communion every morning. In her youth, Cordelia learned to play the piano, twirl the baton as a majorette, and was even selected as Junior Miss for Macy’s Department Store fashion show. Edward Puntervold, caught her eye and captured her heart leading to marriage on April 13, 1952. With the births of their children, they found themselves moving to the Sunshine State and eventually Miami. Cordelia’s love for the Lord, playing the piano, and singing was resurrected at St. Monica’s Catholic Church where she became the organist for 18 years. Without a doubt, her love for music helped bring so much joy and laughter into the Puntervold household. In the early 1980s Cordelia moved to Pembroke Pines and quickly established St. Mark’s Catholic Church as their place of worship. Cordelia sang in the choir, joined the Women’s Club, and enjoyed serving at carnivals and Christmas tree sales. She was a woman of amazing devotion and sacrifice, always putting her family before herself. Cordelia was a woman of strength and grace as she touched countless lives. She will be known for her kindness and compassion. She leaves behind her four beloved children, Edward, Robert, Karen, and Sally, as well as, seven living grandchildren, plus one predeceased, and eighteen great-grandchildren. Cordelia’s legacy will continue to inspire all who had the honor of knowing her. Although Cordelia is absent from the body, she is present with the Lord. She is now with our Lord Jesus whom she loved with all her heart. Cordelia is also rejoined with her late husband, Edward Puntervold, whom she adored immensely. While Cordelia will be missed deeply, we can all find comfort that her memory will live in our hearts forever.
Please keep the Puntervold family in your thoughts and prayers. The Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel is Honored to assist the Puntervold family with the arrangements.
