Obituary of James E. Ward II

Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James E. Ward, II, 85, of Pembroke Pines, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 26th, 2025, at home with his devoted wife of 43 years Lydia and Brother-In-Law Bob by his side. He was born March 31st, 1939 in Johnson City, New York, to his loving parents Mary Pronti and James Edward Ward. He is survived by his children Scott E. Ward, Melissa (Michael) Ward-Puzon and Cynthia (William) Lowther. Dearest brother to his sister Arlene Marler of Bradenton, Florida, and his sister Charlotte Robinson who passed to the Lord in 2019. Jim was a cherished uncle to several nieces and nephews and a loving grandfather to several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He truly was a friend to many and loved by all whose lives he touched in so many ways over the years. Prior to relocating to South Florida, he served in the US Navy from 1958-1962 plus two years in the Reserves. He was very proud of his military service where he served as a draftsman with the Seabees. He was a great lover of all sports but loved to tell stories about playing fast pitch softball on the Navy team. He was very passionate about his profession as an architectural designer, and he was an absolute perfectionist in his field. He always said that “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life”. He held true to that. His favorite sport was swimming, and he was avid swimmer. He was a member of the Masters Swim Team in Ft. Lauderdale and competed in many swim meets over the years throughout Florida. In 2014, he was able to compete in the 15th FINA World Masters Championships in Montreal, Canada. That was an exciting time for him. He was a long-time member and supporter of St. Edward Catholic Church in Pembroke Pines and was a member of the men’s prayer group. A celebration of Life Memorial Mass will be held at St. Edward Catholic Church on Friday, April 25th, 2025, at 12:30 P.M. following Inurnment at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery in North Lauderdale at 3:00 P.M. with military services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Edward Catholic Church in James E. Ward II’s memory. Please keep the Ward II family in your thoughts and prayers. The Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel is Honored to assist the Ward II family with the arrangements.
