Sonia Devene Francis died peacefully at home in Miami, Florida, on April 26, 2025, at the age of 66.
Sonia is survived by her mother, Lucille, of Miami, Florida, children Daneon and Jamal Francis, and siblings; Norma, Barrington, Jacqueline and Fay of London, England.
Sonia was born on July 19, 1958 in London, England to Lucille Carney and Felix George (Steve) Peart. She married Errol Francis, who she met at church, in 1979. In 1987 they moved to Hornchurch, Essex, England. The couple had 2 children. She worked in advertising for 23 years in the UK, and more recently worked as an administrative assistant when she moved to the US in 2017.
Her children remember her as a kind, caring, loving mother, who lived her life with grace and dignity. A pure soul that touched many people she came into contact with.
Sonia was passionate about music and often enjoyed singing until her heart's content. She was a calm individual who loved her family dearly. In her youth she was a dedicated member of the church community and was a valued vocalist in the choir.
The funeral is scheduled for 11am on May 7, 2025 at Scarano Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at the Jerusalem Community Church in Miramar, Florida. Pastor Mike Tinglin will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Sonia's life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Memorial Hospital in Pembroke Pines where Sonia received the majority of her care. Condolences can be sent to family members you are connected to. The family would like to thank Sonia's friends, extended family, neighbor's and care givers for their love, prayers, care and encouragement both during Sonia's life and following her death.
