Obituary of Rosa Maria Perez

Please share a memory of Rosa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
PEREZ Rosa We gather to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable woman, my beautiful mother. At 97 years old, she lived a life rich in love, family, and service. She was a devoted mother to her four children, a loving grandmother to her five grandchildren, and a proud great-grandmother to her one great-grandchild. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She was also a loyal and devoted member of the Roman Catholic Church. She was a Eucharistic Minister at All Souls Church and Blessed Sacrament church in Springfield Massachusetts. She was a member of the Legion of Mary beginning at All Souls church and then later at St Stevens Roman Catholic Church in Hollywood, Florida, and at St Maximilian Kolby Roman Catholic church. At All Souls Church where we all grew up, she was also a member of the charismatic movement (Los Carismaticos) and of the Catholic movement of Cursillistas. She taught her children to give back to others by example. We had newspaper routes and as children had offering envelopes at the church as our mother ensured that we also provided an offering to the church. She worked part time cleaning private homes and then at Western New England College. Even with her limited income she always made sure to set aside money for others and had several charities she gave to. Beyond her immediate family, she opened her heart and home to many children as a foster mother in Massachusetts. She provided a safe and nurturing environment for those who needed it most, leaving a lasting impact on their lives. Her kitchen was a place of warmth and delicious aromas, where she shared her love through her incredible Puerto Rican cooking. Her dishes were not just meals; they were a taste of home and a celebration of her heritage. Perhaps what many of us will remember most fondly was her infectious spirit and her wonderfully inappropriate sense of humor. She had a knack for saying the unexpected, often leaving us in stitches. Her spontaneity and wit brought laughter and joy to every gathering. She was a woman of strength, compassion, and humor, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, laughter, and service will live on in our hearts forever. In Repose Thursday, May 15, 2025 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral Mass Friday, May 16, 2025 at 11:30 A.M.
