Mary A. Collins Obituary

Mary Collins

November 20, 1936- June 25, 2025

Mary Collins, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and cherished friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family. Born on November 20, 1936, in Plains, PA, Mary was the devoted daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil McCall of Kingston, PA, and sister to Jackie McCall, Catherine Phillips, and predeceased by Neil McCall II.

On July 20, 1957, she married the love of her life, Michael J. Collins at the St. John’s Air Force Chapel in Newfoundland, and together they built a life rooted in faith and family. She was the proud mother of Michael (Carol) and Mark (Donna) Collins, and an adoring grandmother to Bryan, Danielle, Ryan, Michael, Justin and Robbie. Her family grew to include grandkids-in-law PJ, Danielle, and Niki, and great-grandchildren Shea, Maverick, and Wesley, who all brought her immeasurable joy.

For more than 30 years, Mary served as the heart of St. Hedwig’s School in Floral Park, NY, where she worked as a secretary and became a second mother to generations of schoolchildren. After moving to Pembroke Pines, FL, she became an invaluable member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, continuing to spread warmth and wisdom to all who knew her. She was deeply devoted to her Catholic faith, teaching hundreds of young students about the Church and preparing them for their First Holy Communion. Her legacy of faith and love endures in each of their lives.

Known for her fierce loyalty, love of family, and signature housecoat apron, Mary made everyone feel at home - often over a plate of her famous ham with pineapple or homemade lasagna. She was the proud matriarch of a sprawling family and a treasured presence to dozens of nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Mary Collins lived a life of unwavering faith, strength, and service. Her laughter, guidance, and unconditional love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
