Vivianne Thrasybule Adrien Obituary

Vivianne Adrien (née Thrasybule), went home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2025, at the age of 83 in Pembroke Pines, Florida. She is survived by husband of 62 years, Nicolas Geffrard Adrien, son Claude Adrien, daughters Huguette Adrien Curah and Florence Adrien Graham, grandchildren Etienne Curah, Jacques Graham, Joelle Curah and Sebastien Graham, sister Mireille St Cyr, countless nieces, nephews and cousins, and many dear friends. Vivianne is predeceased by her parents Fabius and Carmen Thrasybule, and siblings including Jacques, Pierre, Marie Thérèse, Raymond, Huguette and Constant Thrasybule.

The 10th of 11 children and youngest daughter of Fabius and Carmen, Vivianne was born on September 9, 1941 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. She studied at l’Ecole Normale d’Institutrices before moving on to the Julien Craan school, after which she was accepted into a Canadian convent to pursue her dream of becoming a nun. God had different plans, though, and the day the acceptance letter came, her father received a request for her hand in marriage, which she accepted. She moved to Africa, then the United States with her new husband and completed undergraduate studies at Villanova University and graduate studies at the Georgetown University. A dedicated educator, Vivianne poured into and changed the lives of students of all ages, cultures and backgrounds for more than four decades.

Vivianne was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed a lifelong love affair with her Savior Jesus Christ, music, poetry and intellectual pursuits. The often favorite “Tatie” to nieces and nephews and the children of her dear friends, she will be sorely missed by them all.

A funeral service is scheduled at 12 Noon on Thursday, August 14 at St. Edward’s Catholic Church at 19000 Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33029. The family requests that donations be made in Vivianne’s name to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation or another reputable organization working in the field of dementia research. For those who choose to send flowers for the altar, notably red roses, the family asks that they be sent directly to the church for the mass. Please do not send wreaths. Arrangements by Joseph A. Scarano Funeral Home 9000 Pines Boulevard, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024.

Please keep the Adrien family in your thoughts and prayers. The Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel is Honored to assist the Adrien family with the arrangements. 954-438-8222
