It is with heavy hearts and deep gratitude for a life well-lived that we remember Linnette Thurston, a woman whose life was a testament to faith, love and kindness, whose journey on this earth came to a peaceful close on Sunday, August 3, 2025.
Born to parents Evelyn and David Miller, Linnette grew up in Franklyn Town (Kingston, Jamaica). More than anything, Linnette loved her family. She was a cherished mother, devoted daughter and a beloved sibling. She was a friend to many. To her friends, she was a confidante and a source of unwavering support. Her friendships were characterized by loyalty, empathy and a sense of joy that was infectious. She celebrated others’ successes as her own, offered solace in times of sorrow and always found the right words to uplift a weary spirit.
Above all else, she was devoted to her Christian faith. Her unwavering trust in God guided her every action and word, shaping her into a beacon of hope for all who knew her. She dedicated herself to the service of her church, lending her voice to the choir, her hands to community service and her heart to prayer and fellowship. Her faith was not only professed – it was lived each day, in both quiet acts of kindness and courageous acts of compassion.
She was an avid reader and could always be seen first thing in the morning with her Bible, prayer book, hymnal and Daily Word. She also loved music, from the classics to folk melodies that she would sing and dance along to.
Linnette Thurston’s legacy is one of steadfast faith, boundless love and selfless friendship. She leaves behind a tapestry of cherished memories, and her example will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her. Linnette’s journey may have reached it’s earthly end, but her light continues to shine – softly, steadfastly and eternally in the lives of all who loved her.
