Bernadette Desir Obituary

Bernadette Desir, 86, passed away on Wednesday, October 29. She was a beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and cousin. Known as Bernie by friends, she moved to Miami to escape the winters of New York and resided in South Miami for over 45 years.

Throughout her life, she held a variety of positions, and serving as a Resident Manager at Sunrise Community brought her the greatest joy for more than 22 years. Many of the residents' parents became lifelong friends, and they shared holiday laughs at each other's homes. She enjoyed listening to music, cooking, and spending time with family. Late in life, she became an avid ceramic artist and dedicated herself to filling friends' homes with her art.

Bernie is survived by her brother, Alande; two sons, Fritz and (Nadine) of Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Steve and (Paola) of Hollywood, Florida; three granddaughters, Gabrielle, Sydney, and Paige; and one grandson, Jackson.

Relatives and friends will be received by her family on November 6th, from 4-8 PM at Scarano Funeral Home, Mass service on November 7 at 11:00 am at Notre Dame D'Haiti Catholic Church. Her interment will follow at 1:00 pm at Our Lady of Mercy.
