Arminda (Minda) Carreras, 95, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, passed away on November 8, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on March 11, 1930, in Orocovis, Puerto Rico, Arminda's ninety-five years were filled with love, laughter, warmth, and the kind of joy that left an imprint on everyone she met.
Minda’s life was a beautiful story of love, devotion, and humor. In 1948, she married the love of her life, Hector Carreras, with whom she shared decades of marital love, faith, and family. Together, they raised four children, Iberia Cartagena, Hector Carreras, Jr, Antonio Carreras, and Carlos Carreras, creating a home filled with love, sports, and family rituals with the irresistible aroma of Minda’s cooking. Her kitchen was the heart of the household, a place where her creativity and passion shone brightest. While many tried to replicate her recipes, there was always that “Minda's touch” — a blend of love, humor, and skill that could never quite be copied.
After working for over 20 years and retiring from the Puerto Rico Telephone Company, Minda embraced her passions wholeheartedly. She enjoyed reading, crocheting, and sewing, crafting each piece with care and artistry. A devoted caretaker of plants and flowers, her home and garden were living reflections of the beauty she nurtured in life. Sundays were always special to Minda, a day she delighted in attending church with her husband, singing hymns, and giving thanks. She continued this cherished tradition, expressing her deep faith through prayer and song. Years later, when her health was a cause for concern, she moved to Florida to live with her daughter, Iberia, and son-in-law William. She received good medical care and lived close to her children. Family gatherings were her joyous moments.
Minda’s wit, her infectious smile, and her loving spirit brought joy to all who knew her. She carried herself with a unique mix of sweetness and sass — always ready with a laugh, a quick unfiltered remark, or a story that captured everyone’s heart. Her family, including her husband Hector, and Son Hector, Jr who passed several years earlier, she missed dearly. Her children, grandchildren, and family were always the center of her world.
She leaves behind her beloved children Iberia Cartagena, Antonio Carreras, and Carlos Carreras; her treasured 8 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and a 5th generation great-great-grandchild, all of whom filled her final years with immense pride and joy.
As we gather to remember her, we celebrate a life well-lived — one defined by love, laughter, and unwavering faith. She fought the good fight with her illness and her faith never wavered. Minda’s light will live on in all of us. We will miss her forever.
Revelations 21:4 He will wipe away every tear from their eyes and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning or nor crying, nor pain anymore for the former things have passed away.
