It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joseph “Bingo Joe” Gargiullo at the age of 96 on December 5, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Joe was born on November 6, 1929 in Brooklyn NY to the late Sebastian and Santa Gurciullo. He was predeceased by his beloved
wife Ruth “Ruthy” Spallitta Gargiullo. He found his soul mate and the love of his life at the age of
21, when he married Ruthy and was married to her for 69 years at the time of her passing in 2020. He was the proud father of his eternally grateful children Jeanne Holland, Joan Levy (Neil); Joe Gargiullo (Lisa); and John Gargiullo (Teresa). He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren Christopher Semprun (Erin); Diana Brooks (Karvin); Jennifer Israel (Jay); Dena Pierce (Lenny); Matthew Levy (Chelsea); John Gargiullo, Sarah Gargiullo, Emily (Rob) Gargiullo, and Keri Gargiullo Benson (Stephen); Zachery and Alex Kimble; Andrew and Travis Brown; 12 Great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Kaylee, and Kayden Brooks; Ava and Domenic Israel; Tyson, Jocelyn and Isaac Pierce; Cameron Knapp; Chase and Dakota Semprun; Madison Levy; his anxiously awaited 13th great-grandchild; and his sister Connie Morse; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his sisters, Lucy, Millie, and Josie and his brother Charlie and an extensive list of brother and sister’s-in-law whom he loved dearly.
Joe was employed by the City of New York as a steam fitter until his retirement. He also served his country proudly in the Navy during the Korean War. In retirement he was the President of his building and President of the Men’s club in his Crystal Court community in Hollywood Florida. He was also the very entertaining bingo caller there for many years. Joe and Ruthy traveled extensively in retirement. But as much as he enjoyed that, his true love and the thing that made him the happiest was being with his family. He looked forward to the Gargiullo annual family vacations so he could be amongst his beloved family, from different parts of the country, for a week of fun and family bonding. He ran on love, silliness, and the joy of being with the people that he loved with all of his heart. His large repertoire of sayings and legendary dance moves will live on. He was the life of the party and loved being the punchline if it made the people around him laugh. He treated everyone like family and had a lasting impact on all he met. He was a shining example of unconditional love and to know him was to love him. He is deeply loved and will be deeply missed! See you when we’re looking at you….if not sooner!
