Linda Richards (Mathis), age 77, of Deerfield Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on January 7, 2026. She was born on February 12, 1948, in Hahira, Georgia.
Linda was the beloved matriarch of her family. She was loving, kind-hearted, and endlessly generous—always putting others first, even when she herself had little to give. A “bonus mom” to many, Linda’s love was pure, unconditional, and unwavering. There was no strength greater than her heart.
She shared 56 wonderful years of marriage with her devoted husband, James W. Richards. She was a proud and loving mother to her son, Charles W. Richards (Michelle), and her daughter, Michele Lynn Trento (Rico). Linda’s greatest joys were her grandchildren, Drew Trento and Jake Trento, Madison Thomas who brought her endless happiness. She is also survived by many cherished family members and friends whose lives she touched deeply.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Maudell Hodges; her father, James Mathis; and her sister, Pamela Johnson.
Linda had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dog, Rusty. She found joy in tending to her orchids and took pride in her collections of china dolls and artwork. Above all, she treasured time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren, creating memories filled with love, laughter, and warmth.
A service celebrating Linda’s life will be held on January 21, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. at Calvary Chapel, located at 2401 W. Cypress Creek Road, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Food and refreshments will follow at her son’s home in Deerfield Beach.
Linda’s legacy of love, generosity, and selflessness will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Please keep the Richards family in your thoughts and prayers. The Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel is Honored to assist the Richards family with the arrangements.
