Patricia (Pat) A. Wade (nèe McCord) died peacefully in her home in Pembroke Pines, FL at the age of 89. She is survived by their 4 children Thomas Wade, Sr, David Wade, Tamela Hoagland, and Stacia Clark. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
She is preceded in death by her husband Luther D Wade, Jr, her parents Clarence H. McCord and Eleanora McCord (nèe Raymond) brothers Clarence (Jr). Tom, Lawrence, George, and sisters Elizabeth (Bibi), Marian, Margaret, Anna, and two beloved grandchildren Shaun and Heather Clark.
Pat was born in Louisville, KY and was the eighth of nine children born to her parents. They settled in Miami around 1945, where they joined the First Baptist Church of Miami and she later met Bud, whom “she let him chase her until she caught him”. So, with a promise to her former Texas Ranger father, that she would graduate high school, Bud proposed to his 17-year-old sweetheart. She turned 18 in March, married in April, graduated in June from Miami Edison High School in 1954 and so began a seven-decade love story that set the bar very high for those of us that follow.
She loved being a homemaker and a mom, first came Tommy, followed by another son, David, and two daughters, Tammy and Stacia completed her family. Active in her church, she taught the Girls in Action youth group and the 5-year-olds Sunday School class with her Bud for several years.
Her love of Jesus was her guide and her strength. She lived the example of a Godly wife every day. When Dad retired, she did not. She cared for him all the days of their lives because being with him was her reason for living.
She also loved the time spent at their campsite in GA, many summers were spent there with family, friends, and to her delight her grandchildren. She bought the campsite because she loved the place and spending time with us. The laughter, stories, and memories were her gifts to us.
