Luther D. Wade Jr (Bud) died peacefully in his home in Pembroke Pines, FL at the age of 96. Bud was briefly survived by his wife Patricia Ann Wade (nèe McCord). He is survived by their 4 children Thomas Wade, Sr, David Wade, Tamela Hoagland, and Stacia Clark. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews whom he treasured.
He is preceded in death by his parents Luther D Wade, Sr and Geneva I Wade (nèe Hodge), sisters Lois Worley, Doris Tharp, Carol McDowell and two beloved grandchildren Shaun and Heather Clark.
Bud was born in 1930, the eldest child of Luther and Geneva. He spent his summers on his grandparents’ farm without running water or electricity, and they rode to town on a horse drawn wagon, he really did run barefoot all summer and got new shoes just before school began. He grew up in Indianapolis IN where he enlisted in the Marines at 17 yrs old. After graduating High School in 1948, the family moved to Miami. He served for four years during the Korean War and remained int the reserves until 1962. He joined the City of Miami Fire Department in 1953; about the same time, he joined the First Baptist Church of Miami and met the love of his life.
He and Pat married in April of 1954, and welcomed Tommy, their first son the next year. Another son, David, and two daughters, Tammy and Stacia for whom he hung the moon. While raising his family of 4 he worked a side job, was a Scout Master, taught the Royal Ambassadors youth group at church, and he and Pat taught the 5-yr olds Sunday School class for several years. He was never too busy to help or teach.
His favorite place was the campground in Georgia. Deacon’s Place was always the summer family hangout where friends and family were one and the same. When he became a grandpa, the campground became sacred for the time he was able to spend with his grandchildren. His retirement in 1982 allowed him more time to camp and enjoy those campfires.
Dad was a quiet man of great faith, he was constant and true, and to know him was to love him.
