Maria

Our mother, Maria Lizana, died peacefully at home on March 3rd, 2026, at the age of 87 years old.

She left a legacy of 4 children, Sergio, Angie, Cesar (deceased), and Carolina. Her grandchildren are Jonathan, Nicole, Vanessa, Sergio Jr., Constanza, Daniel, Valentina, and Ximena.

She was blessed to see her 13th great-grandkids grow, Tyler, Brandon, Jakob, Ryan, Madelyn, Zachary, Isaac, Emma, Isabella, Augusto, Eliana, Isidora, and Vicente. Maria was born in Santiago, Chile, on August 22nd, 1938. Then, she moved to Rancagua, where she met the love of her life.

She married our father, Sergio, very young and decided to stay home to raise us. In 1979, they decided to move to the United States to improve their lives and ours.

Maria had a hard childhood since she lost her mother at a very young age. Her grandmother and aunt raised her. But, regardless of the hard times, she never let anything destroy her wonderful spirit. She was full of love, compassion, faith, and happiness to share with all.

She founded the Legion of Mary in St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic church. She was the president of such a group for more than 20 years. She was also a volunteer scripture reader during Mass. In addition, she would take communion to sick people who couldn’t attend services during the weekend. Her contribution to the church was very impactful. The Legion of Mary kept going after she retired and presently has more than 17 members who continue her legacy

She was known for her striking appearance and warm smile, matching jewelry, purse, shoes, and accessories that fit her well with her wonderful attitude. She will always be remembered for the wonderful way that she took care of herself.

The viewing will be held on Thursday, March 5th, 2026, at Scarano Funeral Home, 9000 Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines, Fl 33024, from 4 to 8 PM.

The mass will be held on Friday, March 6th, at St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church at 1:30 PM.

We want to thank her caregivers who took care of her with love and compassion, Irma for loving our mother so much, and everyone else who was present during her last days.
