Erna Cynthia Simon (Norma), devoted mother, sister, grandmother, aunt,

and friend, passed away on March 14, 2026, at the remarkable age of 100.

Born on December 14, 1925, in Georgetown, Guyana, Erna lived a life

filled with love, laughter, and purpose.

Erna's early years were shaped by her education at St. Mary's Catholic

School, Bedford Methodist, and Washington High School. She pursued

her passion for teaching at Teachers' Training College and went on to

inspire countless students at Bedford Methodist School. In 1948, she

married Wesley Simon of American Life Insurance Company, (ALICO),

and their love story was one of devotion and partnership.

After Wesley's passing in 1985, and the passing of her parents, Erna chose

to join her children in North America, embracing a new chapter in her

life. She spent time in Canada with Paula and Percy, and later settled in

Florida with Donna and Larry, where she enjoyed 28 wonderful years

surrounded by sunshine and loved ones.

Erna's life was enriched by her love of reading, music (from jazz to

gospel!), and dancing. She especially loved to do the Electric Slide. Her

strong Christian faith was a guiding force, and she found comfort in

worshipping at Holy Sacrament Episcopal Church.

Erna leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration. She was a beloved

mother to her children Donna, Paula, Roger, Robin and Debbie

(deceased), sister to Winnifred (deceased), Neville (deceased), Leila

(deceased) and Ena, mother-in-law to Larry, Percy and Michelle,

grandmother of 10; great grandmother of 13; aunt to 14 nieces and

nephews, great aunt to 7 and many other loving adoptions. Her strength,

wit, and compassion touched many lives, and her memory will be a

blessing to all who knew her.
