Erlinda Santos Duria Obituary

Obituary for our Beloved Mother

It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Erlinda Santos Duria, who departed this life on March 21, 2026, at the age of 89.

Erlinda was born on August 8, 1936, in Manila, Philippines to Jose & Leonor Santos. She graduated from The Philippine Women’s University and continued her education at Centro Escolar University and graduated from the College of Optometry and passed her Optometry Board in November 1961. Erlinda went on to marry Rolando F. Duria on January 7,1962 at Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Pasay City. Soon after, Erlinda and her husband started their own business, Santos-Duria Optometric Clinic in Quiapo, Manila. With 3 children in tow, Rolando and Erlinda immigrated to the United States in 1972. They started their life in Miami, Florida where Erlinda worked at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute as an Ophthalmic Photographer for over 23 years. Years later they opened a family business, Pacific & Caribbean Island Mart in Pembroke Pines, Fl. During her retirement years, Erlinda enjoyed cooking for her friends, and started her own little catering service, Linda’s Delights specializing in Filipino cuisine.

She lived a life filled with compassion, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family. As a mother, she was a guiding light—offering wisdom, comfort, and unconditional love that will forever remain in our hearts.

She is survived by her 3 children, Paul (Elena)Duria, Dennis (Sandra) Duria, and Marie Jane (Joe) Boyer; her 7 grandchildren, Brittni, Sean, Adriana, Kira, Cole, Taylor and Ayden; and 1 great granddaughter, Sofi. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Rolando F. Duria.

Erlinda will be remembered for her generosity, steadfastness in her faith, and resilience until the end. Whether through her comforting words, home-cooked meals, or simple acts of love, she made the world a better place.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 26 from 2-8 pm at Scarano Funeral Homes where family and friends are invited to gather and celebrate her life.

Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit will live on in the love she gave and the memories we cherish.

“A mother’s love is eternal, and her legacy lives on in all who knew her.”
