Cheryl Owens Obituary

Cheryl Ann Owens, 62, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2026, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, surrounded by her loving daughters after a courageous battle with stage 4 breast cancer.

Cheryl was born on May 28, 1963, in Long Branch, New Jersey, to Harry Newton Owens and Ruth Marie Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and grew up alongside her three older siblings: Ruth Victoria, Deborah Marie, and Harry Newton. She graduated from Asbury Park High School in 1981 and, from a young age, developed a strong sense of independence after the early loss of her parents.

At the age of 22, Cheryl became a mother—her greatest joy and proudest role in life. She is survived by her three daughters, Lauren, Ruth, and Veronica Owens, who will forever cherish her love, strength, and resilience. She also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren: Aiden, Julian, Nellie, Leila, Marley, and Amina, who brought immense joy to her life.

Cheryl will be remembered for her unique and beautiful spirit, her generosity, and her outgoing personality. She had a special love for the beach and the ocean, which remained her place of peace and comfort throughout her life. Her presence brought warmth and happiness to everyone around her, and her love will forever remain in our hearts.

A celebration of Cheryl’s life will be held on March 29, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Joseph Scarano Funeral Homes. In honor of her beautiful spirit, we kindly ask that guests wear colorful attire, reflecting the brightness and joy she brought into this world.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
