Dorothy Louise Lukacsko Obituary

Dorothy Louise Lukacsko (née Miller), age 87, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, entered into eternal life suddenly on Friday, May 22, 2026. Dorothy was born to John Edwin and Dorothy Louise Miller in Jersey City on May 25, 1938. She graduated from Clifton High School, where life would soon lead her to her first love, Ralph Vigorito. The two met at a high school dance, and from that beginning they built a life and a family together.

Dorothy's life was a beautiful journey, marked by the many places she called home and the family she cherished above all else. Her story began in Clifton and carried her as far as Reno, Nevada, before she found her way back to her roots, settling in Wayne, New Jersey, where she lovingly raised her four wonderful children.

Dorothy would later marry John Lukacsko, who became not only her husband but, as she often said, her best friend. While living in New Jersey, the two shared a love of travel, from the beaches of Puerto Rico to the boardwalks of the Jersey Shore. When her son Thomas "Tommy" Vigorito was drafted by the Miami Dolphins, Dorothy and John followed south, settling in Pembroke Pines, Florida, where they spent their days playing golf, walking the beach, or simply enjoying their balcony together, sharing the long, heartfelt conversations of a life built side by side.

Through all the moves and the many places she called home, one thing never changed: her family was the center of everything. Dorothy found her greatest happiness in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson, from holidays and celebrations to the everyday laughter around the table. She was the foundation of her family, leading always with quiet strength and grace.

That love had its source in her Catholic faith, which was at the very heart of who she was. She found peace and purpose in daily Mass, where the Eucharist anchored her, and in the Rosary she faithfully prayed each day, entrusting her family and all those she carried in her heart to the intercession of Our Lady of Fatima, to whom she held a lifelong devotion. Her faith was woven through every part of her life.

Dorothy's faith was never confined to the pew; it filled the countless hours she spent serving others for years on end. She was a faithful member of two parishes, St. Maximilian Kolbe in Pembroke Pines and St. Jude Chapel in Cooper City. At St. Jude, she gave herself to a welcoming community where people of all abilities worshipped together, gathered each week around its ASL-interpreted Mass. Alongside her daughter Darcy, she frequently visited the women of Schott Communities, a home for those with developmental disabilities, bringing food, crafts, and true friendship. She spent years teaching CCD to children with special needs, passing on the faith she so dearly loved. In hospitals, she gave her time as a volunteer, supporting the nurses and comforting those in their care. This was not occasional charity but the steady work of a lifetime, and her prayers reached beyond her own family to anyone in need of encouragement, strength, or hope.

Dorothy is survived by her three children: Ralph Vigorito (and his spouse, Debbie), Darcy Nash, and Patricia Babich (and her spouse, Matt). She was predeceased by her husband, John; her son, Thomas Vigorito; and her daughter-in-law, Dianne Vigorito. She is also survived by nine beloved grandchildren: Justin Vigorito (and his spouse, Becka), Michael Vigorito, Brandon Vigorito (and his spouse, Molly), Ryan Nash, Kelly Nash, Matthew Babich, Shawn Babich, Brianna Vigorito, and Rachel Babich; as well as her cherished great-grandson, Dominick Vigorito.

Dorothy lovingly embraced her role as stepmother to Amy Papera (and her spouse, Michael) and Eric Lukacsko (and his spouse, Shea), and was predeceased by her stepdaughter, Carrie Galkowski (and her spouse, Ray). She is survived by all their children and grandchildren, as well as by her sisters, Marilyn and Michelle (and her spouse, Bob), and was predeceased by her brother, Jack. She also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made in Dorothy's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Eternal rest grant unto her, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul, and the souls of all the faithful departed, rest in peace. Amen.
