Alex Kronstadt Obituary
Alex Kronstadt passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, at the age of 84.
Born and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Alex later graduated from Stranahan High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He attended the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he earned master's and doctoral degrees in psychology.
Alex worked for nearly four decades as a clinical psychologist. He lived for many years in Arlington and Rockport, Massachusetts, before joining Kaiser Permanente and residing in Greenbrae, California, during the 1990s. He later returned to South Florida, spending the past quarter-century in Weston. For several years he taught psychology at Broward College in Fort Lauderdale.
Known earlier in life as both "Bubba" and "Andy," Alex was an accomplished athlete in high school, including as the starting forward on Florida's All-State basketball team. He was an avid sports fan who loved to kibitz, would readily engage a conversation about sociology or religion or philosophy, and had lately enjoyed many a sunset on the patio with his beloved cats, Magic and Cici, who survived him.
Alex also is survived by his brother, Jack Kronstadt of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida; his son, K. Alan Kronstadt of Arlington, Virginia; his ex-wife and Alan's mother, Diana Kronstadt, of San Rafael, California; and his niece, Michelle Glassman of Sarasota, Florida, and her family.
Alex's cremated remains will be interred at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah alongside those of his father, Joe Kronstadt; his mother, Rose Kronstadt; and his sister, Esther Danzig, née Kronstadt.
