Jennie Duarte Obituary
Jennie Duarte Abbot (Mamita) died peacefully at her home on June 8, 2026 in Pembroke Pines, FL at the age of 89. Jennie is survived by her children, Maggie, Carol and Danny, her grandchildren Christine, Candice, Ryan, Brandy, Leo, Crystal, Daniel, Brittany, Dustin, Tj, Joey, Dominique, Taylor, and her great grandchildren, daughter in laws and nieces and nephews all of Florida. She is preceded in death by her husband Jose Duarte and parents and 8 siblings.
Born on November 15, 1936 in Cuba. To parents Thomas Abbot and Clara Rojes. Jennie married Jose Duarte her first and only boyfriend, a scenic artist for motion pictures in 1954. After relocating from Cuba to Florida Jennie became a homemaker. Over a period of time she welcomed three children.
Jennie was an amazing mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an exceptional cook and took pride in cooking for her entire family including siblings and their families. She was always the life of the party. She loved to laugh and make others laugh. She found joy in caring for all of her grandchildren and family members. She loved the casino and her favorite was the penny slot. She loved cruises and traveling and dressing glamorously with her costume jewelry. She is and will always be abundantly loved and dearly missed by her entire family.
A funeral is scheduled for June 11, 2026 from 4pm- 8pm at Scaranos Funeral Home at 9000 Pines Boulevard in Pembroke Pines.
The family would like to thank Nami from Nami Homes and all of their wonderful staff for their dedicated care and attention to Jennie. We would also like to thank Vitas Hospice for their care and compassion during her final days.
