Suzanne Schanze Hitaffer Obituary

In Loving Memory of Suzanne Schanze Hitafer

January 3, 1950-June 26, 2026

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved wife, mother,

grandmother, sister, and friend, Suzanne Schanze Hitafer, who passed away peacefully on

June 26, 2026, at the age of 76.

Born on January 3, 1950, in Miami, Florida, Suzanne spent her life in South Florida, first

making her home in Miami Springs and later in Pembroke Pines. She dedicated many years

of service to the City of Miami Springs, beginning her career as Deputy City Clerk before

proudly serving as City Clerk. She was respected for her professionalism, integrity, and

commitment to serving her community.

Above all, Suzanne’s greatest joy was her family. She was the devoted wife of Arthur

Hitafer, the loving mother of Arthur Hitafer Jr. and Kimberly Hitafer Perez, and a proud

grandmother to Michael, Christopher, and Nicolas Perez, who brought endless happiness

to her life. She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Kenneth Schanze, along with

many extended family members, dear friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Suzanne had a remarkable gift for making a house feel like a home. She found peace and

happiness in gardening and landscaping, creating beautiful outdoor spaces filled with life

and color. She also loved baking and cooking, and there was nothing she enjoyed more

than preparing meals and treats to share with those she loved. Her warmth, generosity, and

welcoming spirit made every family gathering special.

Suzanne will be remembered for her kind heart, quiet strength, unwavering love, and the

countless ways she cared for others. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the

friendships she nurtured and the many lives she touched throughout her life.

A private Celebration of Life will be held at her home with close family and friends to honor

Suzanne’s memory, share stories, and celebrate a life filled with love, service, and

compassion.

Though she is no longer with us, Suzanne’s love will continue to bloom in every garden,

every shared meal, and every treasured family memory. She will be deeply missed, forever

loved, and never forgotten.
