As I sit here and think about the beautiful and powerful force of nature that is Gretchen Forbes-Tripp, I am trying to reconcile my mental images of her smile and sound of her voice in my head with the reality that a light that shone as brightly as Gretchen's may never again grace this world. I feel so grateful to have had the opportunity to know her for over 20 years, and to have received her light for so long. We last contacted each other on her birthday this past May, a custom that we maintained (albeit inconsistently) for the last 16 years. Gretchen was a coworker, a friend, and sometimes I think she even thought that she was my mom! I cared for her dearly and miss her so much. I want to extend my deepest condolences to her family as they work through this transition. I hope that the family knows that her light never will be extinguished. It'll just be coming from another place now.
