Obituary of Alberta E. Matthew

Please share a memory of Alberta to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Alberta Matthew was born on January 19, 1922, in Corona, Queens, New York to Lillia Ransell Taylor and Lafayette Norman Franks. She was the eldest of five children, and the only daughter to her parents. She had four brothers, Lafayette, Arthur, Charles and Irving. Alberta met the love of her life, William S. Matthew, at a wedding. They eventually married and had two daughters, Marilyn and Shirley. She was blessed with six grandchildren, Angela (deceased), Gibre, Chere, Indya, Dejon and Ron; eleven great-grandchildren, Simba (Kevin Jr), Marlon, Elijah, Marc, Sydney, Ethan, Brittney, Kayla, Angela, Bianca and Brayden; and one great-great-grandson named Kilee. Alberta worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for more than 40 years. She loved her profession and helping those in need. She even specialized as a surgical nurse for the majority of her nursing career. Alberta had many hobbies, finding the most joy in teaching ceramics, cake decorating and making jewelry. In1988, Alberta and William relocated with their family to South Florida. She was a God-fearing Christian woman and was a devout member at Cooper City Church of God. She served her church diligently by feeding the homeless for many years. In addition to her family, Alberta was loved by all who knew her, especially her dear friends Rose and Phyllis (deceased). Alberta passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, peacefully in her own home, surrounded by her loving daughter, Marilyn and granddaughter, Indya. Her loving nature and beautiful spirit touched many lives. She was selfless and giving. She will be forever held close to our hearts. May she rest in peace and may God comfort her family and loved ones during this time of their bereavement. Please keep the Matthew family in your thoughts and prayers. The Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel is honored to assist the Matthew family. (954) 438-8222.
