Obituary of Don Antonio Gordon

Please share a memory of Don to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Tony’s Life Don Antonio (Tony) Gordon was many things to so many people; devoted husband, nurturing father, adoring Papa, loving brother, uncle, father-in-law, son-in-law, consummate professional, mentor, loyal friend and devoted Christian. With smiling eyes, joyous laugh, calm demeanor and open heart, Tony greeted all with warmth and kindness. He was born in Kingston, Jamaica on March 12th, 1950 to loving parents, Noel and Louise Gordon. Tony, the fifth of ten children loved each of his siblings and they all loved him dearly. Shortly after graduating high school at 16 years old, Tony started his career with Air Jamaica as an aircraft mechanic steadily progressing thru the ranks until he attained the position of Duty Engineer. In 1979 Tony and his family migrated from sunny Jamaica to the windy city of Chicago, Illinois to become the Technical Representative. Eventually settling in Delaware. In the late 90's Tony's expertise was needed more at Headquarters so he and his loving wife Kay moved back to Jamaica in an executive role. Finishing his extensive career with Air Jamaica several years later at John F. Kennedy in New York. Tony was a man of many talents; he was a comedian that needed no prepared jokes to make people laugh. A chef that needed no formal cooking education to be able to prepare a meal that would have you licking your fingers in anticipation for more. He was an avid angler who enjoyed watching his wife, children and grandchildren fish more than he himself enjoyed reeling in his own. He was a lover of many genres of music and could often be heard singing songs from some of his favorite artists like Elton John, Chris De Burgh, Bob Marley and Toby Mack. He was a savant when it came to anything mechanical and could often trouble shoot and repair anything with an engine just by listening to it. In 2003, Tony and Kay moved to South Florida where, they operate a successful automotive service business which continues to thrive today. During this time he became a board member of the Miramar Pembroke Pines Regional Chamber of Commerce until losing his battle to cancer on Tuesday, January 11th 2022. Tony was predeceased by his parents Noel and Louise Gordon, brothers Errol, Michael, and sister Elaine. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Kay, son Don, his wife Lori and their children Sarah and Emily, daughter Kamala, her husband Jason and their children Gianni, Milania and Domiano, sisters Margaret, Greta, Blossom and Renae, brothers, Phil and Sam. Please join us as we celebrate the life of Don Antonio Gordon (Tony), a man loved, respected and cherished by all. In Lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the Chamber Scholarship Fund to award a scholarship in his name this year. https://www.southbrowardfoundation.org/tonygordon.html
