Obituary of John J. Koebel, Jr.

John “Jack” Joseph Koebel, Jr. age 80, passed away on Thursday, January 20, 2022 in Hollywood, Florida where he has resided since 1952. He was born May, 23, 1941 in Hamilton, Ontario Canada to John and Rose (Spereman) Koebel. John was married to Rachel in 1960 for 31 years and had 3 children. He worked as a general contractor for the family business, Dickerson Construction in his early years and later with the City of Pembroke Pines as a Chief Structural Plans Examiner where he retired. For many years, he enjoyed coaching baseball, soccer and softball for youth and CYO leagues. He loved to watch sports, enjoyed American western and cowboy themed books and movies. Later in life he enjoyed travel, bass fishing especially teaching his grandchildren to fish and spending time with his family. He was blessed to have the love, support and companionship of his girlfriend Virginia Agri by his side for the past 23 years. John is survived by and will be greatly missed by his children, Janet Babcock, Jim Koebel and Jeff (Debra) Koebel; grandchildren Jesse, Spencer, Hunter, Jaxson, Mason, Cavan and Jacquelyn; many nieces and nephews, his sisters, and his love Virginia. Visitation will be Sunday, January 30, 2022, 2:00pm – 5:00pm with a prayer service and reflection of life at 4:00pm. Joseph Scarano Memorial Chapel 6970 Sterling Road, Davie, FL In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in John’s memory to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital
