Theodore Alan Steckel, Davie, Florida, passed away on September 12, 2017 after a fierce battle with melanoma.
Ted was born on September 1, 1953 in Long Island New York to his parents Theodore Steckel Jr. and Julia June Steckel. Ted moved to Florida in 1988 with his wife Kiki and 2 daughters Catherine and Panayiota (Julia). He worked as a Senior Vehicle Mechanic for FedEx in Miami International Airport, Ted gave 41 years of his life to the aviation industry and well respected by all who knew him. Anyone who knew Ted, knew him for his unwaivering dedication to his family, and a strength like no other. He was a simple man who enjoyed the little things in life like good food, fishing, BBQ, a well-manicured lawn, long conversations and above all quality time with his family. Anyone who knew Ted would tell you he was one of the most intelligent men and could tell you everything about anything. He was known for his many stories and his passion for learning, particularly about history. He always had a way to make you laugh, even in the most difficult of times.
He is survived by his wife and true love of his life, Kiki, and their 2 daughters Catherine and Panayiota; his Sons in law Tim and Brett and 5 grandchildren Ella, Addison, Aubree, Matthew and Travis. They were the highlight of his life. He is also survived by his mother, Julia June Steckel and two sisters, Kathy and Karen.
A memorial to honor Ted and his life will be held on Saturday, September 16 from 5-7 PM at Joseph A. Scarano Funeral Home at 6300 Stirling Road, Davie, Fl. 33314.
