Ruth (Betty) Newton Pike Keyser, born in Arlington, VA in 1928 and died October 8, 2016 in Sunrise, FL. After getting married, having two children and working for several banks located in Washington, D.C., Ruth started working as a clerk typist in 1971 with the U.S. Department of the Navy at the Washington Navy Yard. She retired in 1992 as an Industrial Specialist with more than 20 years of government service. Ruth moved to southern Florida in 2001 to enjoy her retirement years with her husband. Ruth was preceded in death by: her father, Benjamin H. Newton; mother, Beatrice Payne Newton; and three brothers, Elmer C, Samuel (Tubby) B and Earl H. Newton; and her first and second husbands, Wesley N. Pike and Franklin E. Keyser, respectively. In addition to her brother and half-sister, Robert (Bob) E. Newton of Fredericksburg, VA and Elizabeth A. Newton Symthers of Spotsylvania, VA, Ruth is survived by: her son and daughter, Dennis W. Pike and Diane E. Gibbs, who reside in Herndon, VA and Miramar, FL, respectively; four grandchildren, Wesley D. and Caren E. Gibbs, who reside in Germantown and Mechanicsville, MD, respectively, Matthew W. Pike and Natalie Pike Riddick, who reside in Shenandoah Valley, VA and Leesburg, VA, respectively; and four great grandchildren, Maria Gibbs, Jadyn Sternack and Nathan and Meghan Riddick. A private memorial service is going to be held at the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fredericksburg, VA.
