Scarano Stirling Memorial ChOn Wednesday, July 25, 2018 Paul F. Ronca, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend passed away at the age of 67. He left this world quietly and peacefully, a contradiction
to the way in which he lived in it. People who knew him well would likely agree that he was just
about the least quiet person that ever lived; particularly when in the company of his three
brothers. Paul was born on December 14, 1950 in Springfield, MA to Carlo and Columba Ronca. The
oldest of four brothers, Paul attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Cathedral High School,
graduating in 1966. As a teenager he worked at his father’s service station and excelled in both
academics and athletics. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy, where he served during the
Vietnam war, on a navy ship in the Mediterranean. In the early 1970s he moved to south Florida
where he enrolled in St. Thomas University, earning a Master’s degree in accounting and
finance. In 1982, Paul married his wife of 36 years Paula D’Amico; one year later they
welcomed their first child, Cynthia (Cyndi) followed by a son, Anthony, in 1985. Throughout his
career Paul worked as a controller for several large companies including Caesars World Inc.,
Velda Farms, and National Dairy Holdings. In 2009 Paul left the corporate world to focus on his
private accounting and tax practice where he continued to work up until his death.
Paul was competitive by nature and he loved a challenge in all forms. Even the friendliest of
competitions could quickly become serious business when Paul was involved. There were
times when a casual game of trivial pursuit or a game of bocce morphed into heated duels.
Ironically, Paul was never a gambling man, thus the only prize he truly desired was the
satisfaction that accompanied winning. Naturally, his fondness of competition translated into a
love of sports; first in his own athletic pursuits, and later as a proud father supporting his
children’s sports teams. For years, he spent much of his free time traveling across the United
States and Canada to watch his daughter play softball and his son play hockey. Paul also loved
the Miami Dolphins, and he attended every home game for decades with his best friend Chris
Fries.Despite his loud voice and often adversarial nature, Paul was a gentle and kind soul. He loved
all animals; especially his golden retrievers. He hated bullies and believed in sticking up for
those not capable of doing so themselves. He was generous with his time and financial
resources and believed in helping people in need. Paul was extremely loyal and protective of
those he loved. He believed that family should always come first, but that “family” was about
more than just blood relation.Paul was so many things to so many people. He will be remembered fondly and missed dearly
by all who knew and loved him.apel, 6300 Stirling Road, Davie, Florida 33314 954-438-8222
