Sandra Patricia Reyes, 66 of Pembroke Pines passed away Tuesday October 16, 2018 in Pembroke Pines, Florida. Born October 19, 1951. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held on Sunday October 21, 2018 from 10 A.M. - 1:00 P.M. with a 11 A.M. Funeral Service at the Joseph A. Scarano Stirling Memorial Chapel, 6300 Stirling Road, Davie, Florida 33314, cremation to follow. Arrangements by Joseph A. Scarano Stirling Memorial Chapel, 6300 Stirling Road, Davie, Florida 33314 954-438-8222.

Today we celebrate the life of Sandra Reyes. She was born on October 19, 1951 in Arima, Trinidad to Rayma Lake and Oscar Savary (both deceased).  She attended Arima Girl’s Government School and subsequently Arima Modern Secondary.  In the early sixties, Sandra migrated to New York City, where she pursued a career as an executive secretary.  After studying and working in New York for 20 years, she moved to Florida to continue her dream.

Years after, in Miami Lakes, she met her work family at Beck Villata & Co.  She worked with them as an Administrative Assistant for 18 years and grew especially close to her co-workers Pat and Gorda.  She talked about them like they were her sisters.

Sandra was the life of any party she attended.  Everywhere she went, people took a likening to her.  Sandra was a carnival person and knew every calypso.   She listened to it morning, noon, and night.  She would sing them so much that her grandchildren knew all the words whenever they visited their Nana.  If you heard loud calypso coming from a car outside, it was probably her.  She also enjoyed mangoes so much, we called her mango mouth.  One of the things in her bucket list was to go to Trinidad every mango season.

Sandra was a genuine, loving and trustworthy person and she was one of the strongest people we know.  She handled single parenting and financial hardships with ease and a smile on her face.  In the end, she was affected by a very aggressive cancer and she tried her best to fight it. The last time she saw many of her loved ones, including her office family, was two weeks ago. That was one of the last times we truly saw that sparkle in her eyes as she enjoyed the steelpan that was there especially for her.

On October 16th, three days before her 67th birthday, Sandra went silently in her sleep, with her close family at her side, feeling the love and strength that she always radiated.  We will miss her laughter and boy did she have one.  To know her was to love her in your own special way. She was a no nonsense person and was not shy about speaking her mind.  No one was considered a stranger to her as all were welcomed and felt her love.

Sandra will be greatly missed by her children Wesley Sr. and Nicole, daughter in-law Jessica and her grandchildren, Adam, Wesley Jr., Kailey, Evan, Kerstin, her great-granddaughter Zoe and her granddaughter-in-law Grayson.   She was especially close to her sister Gail and her brothers Oscar Jr., Learie and Brian (Ricky), sisters-in-law Michelle, and Joyce and ex-sister-in-law Junita.  She was like a second mother to her nieces Kyisha, Danielle, Elena, Giselle, Shanoa, Cheyenne, and nephews, Brian, Erik, Uriah, Aaron, Tyree, Javier, Tiquan, and Bede.  She was also close to their children, her cousins the Maryoungs, the Harts, and the Savarys, along with many extended family and friends.  To know her was to love her and feel love from her.
