Obituary of Daniella Levy
Daniella Levy, our beloved sister, passed away at Miami Shore Hospital in Florida on January 18, 2019 at the age of 73. To her siblings and intimate friends she was also known as "Daddy". Born in Haiti to the late Mrs. Maude (Pasquis) & Mr. Faine Levy, Daniella was the 6th of 8 children. Growing up, Daniella emerged as a vibrant young girl with a fearless attitude towards life. Some of her best assets were her confronting personality and her outspoken ways, which got her into a lot of trouble with our parents as she didn't mince her words no matter who you were. Daniella also had a gentle spirit and was fun loving and overprotective of her younger siblings, which meant she had our ddbacks no matter the consequences. And at school, she was our go to person, one who defended our causes and stood up to school yard bullies who taunted us.
As Daniella blossomed into a beautiful young lady, our sister developed a love for fashion. She wore the latest style of European dresses and hairdos; as a matter of fact, she was such a fashionista in our "Pacot" neighborhood that our friends nicked named her after the French actress "Brigitte Bardo" who was a rising star at that time.
Should Daniella had the option to choose her own path, I imagined she'd be a great fashion designer with her own clothing line or a fearless advocate for the voiceless or perhaps a women of great service to her country. Unfortunately, that's not how her story unfolded. While most 18 years old gets to plan their future and decide on a pathway forward after high school, Daniella's had no say in what layed ahead because she inherited a life altering affective disorder that rendered her disabled until her death. Enduring the consequences of her illness was heartrending to our family. However, this experience helped shape our lives in many ways by strengthening our bond and by teaching us to be mindful of our differences. We also learned to have compassion for the less fortunate but most importantly Daniella's plight taught us about the unconditional love and devotion of our mother whose strenght and courage never waivered for a second while she faced a lifetime of challenges and difficulties. Daniella loved her family very much,on her good days she'd recall the names of her cousins, nieces and nephews with the warmest of smile.
