Robert “Bob” Brent Larsen went to be with his Lord and savior, surrounded by his family, on May 20, 2019, at the age of 86. Born in New York, New York on May 10, 1933, to Geraldine Goldman and Pan Larsen, his family moved to Miami in 1940. He lived most of his life in Miami Dade County, moving to Pembroke Pines in 2017, where he passed.
Bob graduated from Miami Jackson High School in 1951. He attended Eastern Nazarene College as a Divinity major, and Syracuse University as a Language major in preparation for Air Force service. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1956. Stationed in Point Barrow Alaska, deciphering Russian code, he was the base DJ, known as “Sunshine Bob”. He received an Honorable Discharge in 1960.
Bob was a devoted Christian, and a longtime member of the Nazarene Church. At Miami First Church of the Nazarene he was elected head of the youth program for the entire Miami zone, overseeing youth activities for 13 churches. Later, he was a member of Hialeah Church of the Nazarene, and Central Church of the Nazarene.
Bob loved his wife’s cooking, and would do just about anything to make someone laugh. He was moral, faithful, and honest.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Carol Larsen, his sister Sharon Underwood and her husband Ted Underwood, his daughter Launa Carbonell and her husband George Carbonell, his daughter Robin Larsen and her husband David Colclasure, his stepson Les Talley and his wife Stephanie Talley, grandchildren Jennell Talley, Shauna Pahula Ortega, Houston Talley, Samantha Thom, Caroline Colclasure, and ten great grandchildren.
The Celebration of Life service will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Global Church located at 17701 NW 57th Avenue, Miami Gardens, FL 33055 at 4pm. Reception immediate following.
