Obituary of Carol Payne

Please share a memory of Carol to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Carol Kay Hugus Payne, born January 25, 1935 in Jackson, Michigan, died of natural causes on June 16, 2019.  She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years Leslie John Payne and her 2 sisters Margaret Ann Mavros and Thelma Neil Clore.  She is survived by her caring and devoted Step-Daughter Lesley Ann Payne, a niece and nephew in Michigan and 2 nieces in Deland, FL and Mississippi.

Having moved to Florida in 1968, Carol Kay enjoyed many good years in Hollywood:  She enjoyed family here and back home, the sun, ocean and year-around golf.  “Auntie Kay” was the best of the best when waiting tables at Manero’s and The Round Table and at her own café on the beach.  She was the best at celebrating holidays with her baking and cooking for the family gatherings.  A dedicated homemaker and house keeper, she was at her happy place when in her kitchen or reading cookbooks and watching the FOOD channel!  Her other loves included music (she sang in Sweet Adeline’s with her mother and sister) and her “babies”—the cats:  Beau, Carmel & Bethovan, just to name a few.  She retired from AT & T about 12 years ago after 10 years of employment there.

A celebration of her life and all the good memories she leaves will be held July 10, at 4:00pm in the fellowship hall at the Davie United Methodist Church 6500 SW 47th Street.  Take Davie Road north from Stirling Road.

Words cannot express how much she will be missed by friends and family.  Any donations by those who wish, can be made to the church food pantry or the Cancer Society.  RIP Auntie Kay

We Love you.
