Obituary of Carl Humphrey

CARL S. HUMPHREY Carl Humphrey, 91, of Sunrise, Florida, passed away on Saturday, ( Dec 10, 2016 ) at Hospice By The Sea after a long battle with end stage renal failure. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday, Dec 14th, at Joseph Scarano Funeral Home located at 6300 Stirling Road, Davie, 33024 Funeral services will be at 11:00 am, Thursday, Dec 15th, at Joseph Scarano Funeral Home, 6300 Stirling Road, Davie, 33024. Services will be conducted by his Pastor, Brian Brookins. Burial will be at South Florida National Cemetery, 6501 N State Road 7, Lake Worth, Florida Carl Humphrey was born March 27, 1925, in Pax, WV. Son of C.S. and Bertie Humphrey. He married Wanda Branscome on February 26, 1944. They were married for 71 amazing years. Carl graduated from Pax High School, got married, and began serving in the Air Force. He served in India and received an Honorable Discharge in 1946. After returning home from military service, he went to work in Pax at his brother's service station. Later, the family moved to South Florida after the service station was sold in 1959. Once relocating, Carl began a career as a jet engine mechanic with Eastern Air Lines until he retired. Carl and Wanda were members of Riverside Church until his passing. Carl was survived by his wife Wanda of 71 years; Daughter, Cheryle and her husband James La Rocca; Daughter, Carla and her husband Ron Connor; Son, Charles ( Dwayne ) and his wife Linda Humphrey; Grandchildren- Stacy La Rocca-Soto; Christine Venci; Kristen Humphrey; Justin Humphrey; Jennifer Maldonado; Jonathan Connor. Great-grandchildren- Alexandra Soto; Danielle Soto; Jacqueline Venci; Antonette Venci; Nicholas Venci; Julian Maldonado; Scarlett Maldonado; Charles ( Cooper ) Humphrey; Gabriel and Molly Connor.
