Obituary of Stephan Cartright

Stephan Cartright was born in Smithtown, NY to Rita Cartright on June 14, 1969. He lived in Port-au-Prince for the first part of his youth with his mother and grandparents and attended elementary school in Haiti. At nine years old, he and his mother left Haiti for Montreal where he received a Canadian education. After graduation, he worked as an Accountant in Montreal. In 1994, he went to Haiti as an Interpreter for the United Nations Peacekeeping Corps. While in Haiti, he met his future wife, Carlyne Petit-Frere. At the end of his U.N. mission in Haiti, he went back to Canada for a few months and decided to move to Florida where he had extended family. He married his wife in 1996 in Florida and they had a daughter, Mickela. Mickela lived in Haiti with her mother for a few years and moved back to Florida after the devastating earthquake in 2010. At that time, Stephan's mother moved from Montreal to Florida to help with Mickela's upbringing. Stephan was very devoted to his family. He was very close to his mother and his daughter who was the apple of his eyes. About five years ago, when he was diagnosed with kidney failure, he would faithfully go to dialysis and scheduled his sessions around his daughter's schedule. He enjoyed watching sports, especially hockey games and was very involved in his daughter's activities and hobbies.
Stephan is survived by his mother - Rita Cartright, his spouse - Carlyne Cartright, his daughter - Mickela Cartright, his uncle - Rony Cartright and all of his beloved cousins and his goddaughter.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all the family members and friends who visited and comforted Stephan during his last days on earth.
He is already missed and will continue to be missed by all.
