Scarano Presidential Circle Memorial Chapel-4351 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood Hills, Florida 33021. Our thoughts and prayers goes out to the family. Jose Fidel was born on December 9, 1956 to Ernesto & Maria Loreto Fidel in Pasay City Philippines. His siblings were Eduardo, Marilou, Rolando & Maria Remedios. He was the fourth child. His parents were poor but hard working & very devout Catholic. They made sure that their children had what they needed. They had instilled to them the importance of education & most of all Faith, Hope , & Love for God. As a child Jose was very cute & handsome with very thick wavy hair & faired skin. His aunt who cared for him always say to him “mahamot “ that’s why we ended up calling him Mot. Jose was a sickly child with asthma but overcome it when he was a teenager. He was also a smart boy. Every year our mother would go up the stage to pin medal on him at the end of the school year. He went to technical school but was not able to graduate in College. He went through difficult times in his teens losing 2 brothers who got involved with the University student group who went against the government in the 70’s. They eventually disappeared didn’t know what happened to them. He was the one who suffered the most out of this tragedy. In the early 1990’s I was able to help him go to Florida to work at the Cruise Liner but ended up working at his brother in law’s gas station instead. He was a friendly person gets involved with good & not so good people. Eventually he met his wife Arsenia got married & he fell in love with her daughter Adriana who was 3 years old at the time. She became his daughter loving her as his own took care of her & assist her with all her needs. He worked as a driver at Nanay Center in North Miami who caters to the needs of the Elderly people of North Miami mostly Filipinos. Joey treated them with love & respect like his own. Because of the traumatic experience he went through as teenager Joey’s Faith in God weakened. He did not understand what had happened in his life. It was Adriana who became the source of his happiness & pride.Joey’s life changed when he attended the Retreat in 1997 in Lakeland Florida. It was sponsored by a Lay Movement Banal na Pagaaral that started in the Philippines in 1968 & eventually went to US in 1983. It was in that Retreat that he encountered God & experienced His Divine Mercy& Love. That was the start of his transformation to a life centered in Knowing Loving & Serving God. His attitudes changed as he grew in the Faith & Service to God. He started reading the Bible, books of Saints. Studied the Mystics St Padre Pio &!St John of the Cross were his favorite. He went through difficult times but somehow managed to get through with it with the help of family, brothers & sisters in the Faith. As he journey in the BNP Movement his Faith deepend & was more rooted in serving God & others. Another daughter of Arsenia came from the Philippines & he also became a father to her. In the late November 2019, he & his wife moved to Jacksonville from Broward to help take care of his wife’s brother who has health issues. At that he was already experiencing pain on his back & hips. Ended up using the walker for support but inspite of it all he would still attend the weekly Ultreya, a Prayer Meeting on the Reflection of the Sunday Gospel & how it affects our own lives. On December 3, 2019 he went to the hospital ER for severe pain on the right hip. X-rays Ct Scans done showed lung Cancer that went to his hip bones causing pathological fracture to the rt. hip. Had a right partial hip replacement on December 5th. Pain got controlled. Because of the extent of the Cancer he opted not to get Chemo & Radiation the hip replacement was successful & went home. Because his condition progressed it made difficult to care for 2 sick persons to ease the burden of his wife I offered to help & we decided that I take him home to Miami to care for him help him be comfortable as much as possible as the Cancer progressed his pain on back & chest increased. Knowing that my sisters & brothers in Miami would help take care of him I was confident that he will get the care he needs. Thanks God for them. Adriana who lives in Broward was able to come visit & care for him as much as she can. This made a huge impact on him appreciating all the help he gets. His wife also came as much as she could to help. Inspite of his pains & suffering his Faith in God did not waver. He understood that it is a part of life God giving us a chance to help Him convert souls. On Tuesday January 14, 2020 Fr. John came gave him Annointing of the Sick prayed for him & even led the Divine Mercy Chaplet. He became peaceful after. Our sister came from the Philippines on January 17 at 1:30 am. They were able to bond for a few days. On January 21, 2020 at 4:35 am Joey passed away quietly & peaceful after suffering from so much pain in his upper back chest & arms. It was a happy death because I do believe that God allowed him to purify his soul through his pains & suffering. Few days before that he sad he saw my mother father & siblings. He said it was a beautiful place & saw a very handsome Man & would want to leave already but I said let’s wait for our sister first to get here. I’m saddened that he is gone but at the same time joyful knowing that he is with God in His Heavenly Kingdom together with our parents brothers & loved ones.
