Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel, 9000 Pines Blvd, Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024 954-438-8222 Joe Nathan Williams was born April 21, 1942 in Tifton, Georgia to the late Vivian Williams. Joe was the 2nd child born to Vivian. He spent a portion of his childhood in New Smyrna Beach, Fl and moved to Miami, Florida in his teenage years. He made Florida his home and passed away March 4, 2020 just shy of turning 78 young. Joe was exposed to hard work at a young age and instead of being embittered by the long days he spent in the fields, he decided to apply the same ethics of hard work to improve his future life. Joe was a very serious and studious person. He always looked for opportunities to better himself as well as others. In an effort to impact his community, he spent his career in the field of education. In 1964 he graduated with a Bachelors of Arts degree majoring in Spanish and minored in Secondary Education from Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA. He received his Master of Arts in 1976 from the University of Northern Colorado. He also completed the Educational Specialist program in 1978 from Nova University. From 1968 to 1992 he taught a variety of subjects ranging from English, Spanish, Drama, ESOL, Creative Writing and much more at the high school and college level. He served as an Assistant Principal from 1992-1999 at a variety of elementary, middle and high schools. He taught his students to work hard, give their best and to appreciate the cultures of other people. Some of his recognitions included: Miami Carol City Appreciation Award, Teacher of year Miami Carol City PTA, Kinloch Park Middle Appreciation Award and his students won State Drama Festival. Joe was also very curious about the Bible’s teachings and how those teachings had impacted his mother's life. He would ask questions regarding what the Bible taught on morality, death, and the future. He studied off and on over the years and started seriously studying again three years ago. Over the last three years he began to draw closer to the living God Jehovah. Joe came to appreciate what the Bible taught and began making changes in his life. He expressed faith in Jehovah’s arrangement to receive forgiveness and treasured the hope of being resurrected to a paradise on earth to enjoy the real life without pain and death. Due to his illness he was unable to realize his desire to be baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses.Joe was preceded in death by his mother Vivian, brother’s Alfred, Lawrence and his sister Cheryl. De Gregory, Torosa Duhart, and Patrice Duhart, brothers Donald Duhart, and Gerald Duhart(Sheri), sister-in-laws in his heart: Vernetta and Michele and his aunt Gladys Williams.
