Obituary read by Evelyn Talbot
On May 23, 1969 on the beautiful island of Freeport Bahamas Mary Talbot gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Kimberly Graceda James. Kim later went to Salt Cay in the Turks and Caicos Islands where she grew up with her grandparents Susan and Norman Talbot who loved and spoiled her.
She received her early education in Salt Cay and later attending high school in Grand Turk.
At the age of 15 she moved to Miami to live with her mother, stepfather and siblings. She later lived with her aunt Laurie Ariza who helped to prepare her for life, she also acquired a love for nursing from her aunt. Kimberly finished high school there in South Miami where she was part of ROTC at Killian High School.
After high school, Kimberly joined the United States job corps upon completion her tour of duty when she graduated from Spellman College in Georgia as a respiratory technician.
She met and married her handsome soulmate, Albert Russell from South Caicos in the Turks and Caicos Islands, they had no children of their own but treated all their nieces and nephews like their own, Kim was a good cook and she loved to entertain her family and friends, celebrating birthdays and holidays and anniversaries etc.
Her husband Bert which is what she called him for short loved music and Kim loved to dance, Kim was a dresser.
Kim graduated as an LPN from Miami Lakes offices in the Broward County area. She later decided to open her own business which was America’s Quality Care Services where she was the owner and CEO.
Kim became very active in the community, she regularly gave to the Broward County homeless shelters. She was selected as Small Business Owner of the year for city of Hallandale Beach Florida. She
was also chairperson for the Hallandale Chamber of Commerce and was elected to the city of Miramar economic development advisory board in February on February 11, 2011 and in August 2012 elected as the Democratic executive committee for precinct WO11, this election was verified by Brenda Snipes then the Broward County Supervisor of Elections.
Kim was well connected politically, she met many political heavyweights including Governor Charlie Crist, Gov. Bob Graham of Florida and many other politicians from Washington DC, which included President Obama and vice church.
Kim’s spiritual strengths derived from her daily morning devotions in her home and place of business.
Kim was an active member of Miramar United Methodist Church where Pastor Range was the senior pastor.
Kim husband of 27years, Albert Russell died in January 2017, that sadness and loss of her soulmate Albert impacted her greatly.
On July 17, 2020 Kimberly died peacefully, may her soul rest in peace and rise in glory.
