BAILEY Patrick M. 66 departed this Life August 29, 2020. Beloved Husband to Mildred "Buckland" Bailey. Devoted Father to Megan Bailey and Melissa E. Bailey. Loving Brother to Mary Sellers, Regina Bailey and Patrice Bailey. In Repose Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Funeral Mass Friday, September 4, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. Nativity Catholic Church-5220 Johnson Street Hollywood, Florida 33021 following Burial at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Cemetery North Lauderdale, Florida. Arrangements by Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel-9000 Pines Boulevard Pembroke Pines, Florida 33024. Please keep the Bailey family in your prayers. The Joseph A. Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel is honored to assist the Bailey with the arrangements. Patrick Martin Bailey was born on October 1st 1953 to Martin Gerard Bailey and Mary (Marion) Ryan in Brooklyn, New York at Methodist Hospital. They returned to their Miami home after two weeks where he grew up along with his three sisters; Mary, Regina, and Patrice (his twin). They rode bikes around the block, played tag in the cul-de-sac, and put on plays with the neighborhood children. He discovered his love of taking things apart and putting them back together again. He attended St. Rose of Lima Catholic School for Elementary and Middle, then went on to Archbishop Curly for Highschool, graduating with the class of 1974. In high school, he ran long-distance on the track team just like his grandfather, William Bailey, who competed in the Olympics. When he was diagnosed with a heart murmur and cut from the team, he switched to playing handball to prove everyone wrong. He has an AA degree from Miami Dade College where he studied Architecture. He loved art, especially drawing and painting. From there, Patrick embarked on a long and adventurous career path. He traveled across Latin America and East Asia importing leather goods. He was a luxury shoe salesman, a computer repairman, and a safety supervisor for several construction projects, most notably at Miami International Airport and the University of Florida. In his spare time, he enjoyed repairing cars, collecting vintage ties, and gardening. After 39 years of searching, Patrick married Milli Buckland on August 28, 1993. They had two daughters, Megan Elizabeth (1994) and Melissa Erin (1997), whom they cherished immensely. The family enjoyed spontaneous road-trips, going to the movies for birthdays, and making “breakfast for dinner” at least once a month. A much-loved son, husband, father, brother, uncle, neighbor, and friend, Patrick will be missed by many. He will be remembered as the man who would drop whatever he was doing to help someone in need. He did not consider himself exceptional, helping others was what he felt called to do. He would say, “That’s what neighbors do; That’s what uncles do; That’s what brothers do; That’s what fathers do; That’s what husbands do.” It was a self-appointed obligation to humbly help anyone in the world who asked, no matter what. At times he resented his own inability to refuse because it took time away from his own projects, but then he would march out of the garage, tool in hand, smile on his face, and get back to fixing. He couldn’t help it. Patrick left this world at the age of 66 on August 29th, 2020 at Memorial Regional Hospital. He leaves behind a legacy of love, admiration, respect, and friendship in the hearts of so many people, including: cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, god-children, neighbors, and friends. He is survived by his devoted wife of 27 years, Mildred Bailey and his two daughters, Megan and Melissa. As well as his three loving sisters; Mary Sellers, Regina Bailey-Spring, and Patrice Bailey. We will carry you forever in our hearts, Patrick. Rest in Peace.
