He was the son of Luis Scerbo and Theresa Alferie. He is the brother of Ameilia "Chickie" DiVirgilio and Larry Scerbo, he was the youngest of 3. He went by many nicknames, Hun, Pop Pop , Pops, old man to name a few. Some of his childhood interests was building things with wood, making boxed cars and playing stick ball. He loved to get into trouble with his Mom growing up, she would always have to chase after him. He would skip school at 12 and ride the train into Manhattan to go into all the big stores he loved going into the toy store. One day he skipped school and had friends over in his basement showing things on a projector screen that 12 year olds shouldn't be watching, I think we know what that was again Joey was busted by mom when she came home! In 1966 he met the love of his life Flavia Rinaldi through her brothers. One day he told her he was picking her up on a date and when he pulled up she went outside and her brothers ran past her she said " Where are you going?" they shouted with Joe, and there he was leaving her all pretty in the driveway as he went out with her brothers!! He kept on chasing her and wouldn't stop. She would run and jump fences to get away from him until he finally got her to say yes to be his girlfriend. It didn't take much to make her fall in love. He popped the question in 1968 and 3 years later on Sept 25th, 1971 they said "I do". Shortly after on November 30th, 1972 Mama's boy Michael Joseph Scerbo was born. 12 years later what they thought was the flu but god had other plans , Donna Marie Scerbo was born and the family was complete he finally had his princess , Daddy's little girl. The princess title when was taken from Donna and handed to his only grandchild Michaela Marie Bohler born on June 24, 2010. He was beyond thrilled to become a grandfather and you couldn't tell him anything, the spoiling started and NEVER stopped. He loved her beyond words can explain. He loved to play poker at Howie and Marie's house, taking unnecessary trips to Wal-Mart and Home Depot with Michaela attached to his hip to buy things he didn't need, traveling to Orlando and Disney with his family. He was a huge Miami heat fan BUT was a Miami Dolphin ban wagon fan. His favorite music was the beach boys and Frankie Valli. He loved to watch sports, nascar blue bloods and wrestleing. There are many special stories but it would take a lifetime to tell it all. He was a hard worker , wonderful Husband, Father, Brother, Brother In-Law, Friend but most of all the best Pop Pop there could ever be. In the saying of Joe " I feel great, the cat has 9 lives " , he had more than 9 and we are deeply saddened it ended. We are forever thankful that we had many funny and loving years with him. Rest in Peace Hun, Daddy , Pop Pop , Aka Joe
