“Always prepared...Shalom, Shalom” – Tayari T. Heck
I hold these truths to be self-evident that this mantra is something Tayari Heck lived by. What this mantra implies is a self-proclaimed spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical preparedness of whatever life situations were thrown his way...peace and tranquility will always persist. Shalom is a Hebrew word meaning peace, harmony, and tranquility that was always presented as a salutation when Tayari wrote text messages and other forms of communications late in his life. However, this mantra was not always apart of Tayari’s life and he struggled with depression, schizophrenia, and disabilities for a large portion of his adult life until he gave his life to Christ and to study God’s laws.
Tayari Talik DeCarlo Heck born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on June 28, 1974 to George Heck Sr and Patricia Hendrix. Tayari (known to many as Talik) was raised in Pompano Beach, Florida all his life in a neighborhood where he built a strong stature and demeanor. With such great strength and stature Tayari was able to make a name for himself in the community. As a young child Tayari was always charitable and expressed unconditional love as well as tough love to his friends and family. As a man who wore his heart on his sleeve, he possessed the vernacular to pierce the soul of those who dared to challenge his authority. Tayari was always considered a vocal man who never bit his tongue for anything or anyone. He also extended these characteristics through physical means often defending himself or loved ones, which sometimes got him into trouble.
At the fragile age of 18, Tayari was paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair. A man who once stood six feet two inches tall (6’2) and weighed in excess of two hundred and thirty-five (235) lbs. was brought down to the height of a wheelchair. Despite the circumstances, Tayari remembered the teachings of his late great grandmother Lillie Mae Covington-Hill who always taught him to recite Psalms 23 when faced with adversity. So, he did! Tayari then had a vision from his great-grand mother who told him to work on getting his life in order. At the age of thirty-two (32) Tayari attended the Sheridan Vocational Technical Center’s cosmetology program in Hollywood, Florida, where he graduated with honors. He obtained his: GED, nail technician license, driver’s license, and ultimately pursued entrepreneurship in the state of Florida.
Tayari was finally on track to living a mobile, sovereign, self-sufficient, and responsible life. He strived to be a better man who made his family proud of what he had done. He was featured in several Sun-Sentinel news articles that can still be found online today. Tayari was finally rewriting history, but a drastic turn of events took place and his health started to decline. While, still battling depression and anxiety, Tayari met with Israel United Church in Christ (IUIC) where he became a Hebrew Israelite until his untimely death.
Tayari prided himself on keeping the commandments of God as a focal point in his life. He studied the Holy Bible daily and took celebrating the Sabbath Day, as described in the Book of Exodus 20:8 of the King James Version, seriously. On Friday at sundown, he would faithfully shut down all communications, electronic devices, and other distractions to study God’s law up until Saturday sundown. Even up to his untimely death on Monday December 7, 2020 he faithfully practiced keeping the Sabbath Holy. He abruptly ended his last known positive and spiritual conversation with his mother Patricia Hendrix on Friday December 4, 2020 to study God’s law.
Hence his mantra, “Always prepared...shalom, shalom”. Tayari was always preparing to be closer with our lord and savior Yahshua (aka Jesus) and YHWH. And experienced his peace through the pursuit thereof.
Shalom
