Obituary of Dr. Roger E. Burga Acha

Scarano Pines Memorial Chapel is Honored to assist the Burga Acha family with the arrangements. Dr. Roger E. Burga Acha, 86, of Pembroke Pines, FL, passed away on Wednesday, February 3, 2021. Roger was born in Piura, Peru to Maria Engracia Acha and Cesar Burga on August 30, 1934. He earned a medical degree from the Universidad de San Marcos in Lima, Peru. He specialized in a diverse array of fields, including Dermatology, Orthopedics, Neurology, Infectious Diseases and finally dedicated himself to Pathology for the next 40 years, practicing at Galesburg Cottage Hospital in Galesburg, IL. He loved being a physician and treated anyone who had any medical questions or concerns with patience and understanding. His experience ranged from conducting research in Parasitology in the Peruvian Amazon to teaching medical students the art of medicine. His life was centered around his family, both immediate and extended, being passionate about uniting his family and bringing people together. He lived his life guided by the Catholic faith leading him to become the most wonderful father, role model and mentor to others. His peaceful demeanor emitted a calming environment for his family and friends, and his love for others helped all those who he encountered in times of need as a physician, father, mentor and friend. Roger was a beacon of light to whomever had the pleasure of knowing him. He had a love for sports as a player, coach and a die-hard fan of the World Champion Chicago Bulls.Roger is survived by his daughters, Maria (Guy) Mullin, Marta Burga (Gary Dion), Cecilia (Dan) Ramsey, Ana (Milan) Zecar, and Rosario (Agustin) Pineyrua and thirteen grandchildren Francis, Marcos, Veronica, Diego, Claudia, Adrian, Joaquin, Eva, Matias, Lorenzo, Ivana, Bautista, and Faustino. He is preceded in death by his wife of almost 50 years, Teresa Burga Ramirez, who was the love of his life. Memorial donations may be made to Susan G.
