Kyle had COVID-19 earlier this year. Although he had minimal symptoms, being quarantined caused him to assess his life in a different light. In one of our last conversations, he said the experience made him look at things with a new perspective. He shared the new dreams and plans he had as if he felt he had a new lease on life.
He said something that I've given a lot of thought to the past few days. He said he wanted to do great things to leave a legacy when he left this world. He wanted to be remembered in a big way for helping others. He wanted to do something on a grand scale to help others sail through the troubles of life.
Countless times I was able to experience his kindness to others including myself. It might have been through offering encouragement to someone having a rough time, giving thoughtful gifts, making generous donations to important causes, donating money to families in need or lending an ear or a shoulder to cry on. He did all of these and other commendable things for not only his friends and family but random people in public. I'm thankful I was able to see his selflessness so many times.
One time that I recall vividly was when he spent over $150 to help random strangers in a restaurant. They were celebrating a birthday and he wanted to make it more special for them with his kindness. I was amazed at how much he enjoyed being a blessing to people he didn't know.
Since Thursday, countless people have shared their memories of Kyle. Countless people have shared how he touched their lives. Social media screams his name to honor him. This outpouring of love for him represents the legacy he left on this Earth. Although he thought he had to still pursue leaving a legacy, he had already nailed it.
As much as it hurts those who were privileged to know him, Kyle had already fulfilled his destiny. He had already fulfilled his legacy and it was time for him to say goodbye. He will continue to live on in the lives of those he touched. He will be remembered. And I know, because his amazing kindness was the main fiber of his soul, he will remind us through amazing sunsets, birds singing, newborn babies crying and songs that touch our souls, that he is still watching over us and waiting for an opportunity to show his amazing kindness to us again.
Thank you, Kyle. Thank you for all the great times! Thank you for being you and for touching the lives of so many people! Thank you for your amazing legacy! You enriched the lives of so many people.
