Obituary of Dawn J. Henry
Please share a memory of Dawn to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dawn Jacqueline Henry (nee Hart) was born on July 15, 1947 in Trinidad and Tobago and departed us on June 21, 2021 in Hollywood, Florida at Memorial Regional Hospital. In December of 2017 Dawn suffered a stroke which left her with dementia. Nonetheless, she had a cheerful disposition and was always smiling.
Dawn immigrated to the United States in 1982. Dawn created a life here in Florida infused with the Trinidadian culture. She was a hard worker and in all she did she permeated Trinidadian pride; in her dress, in the hearty dishes she made and most strikingly, her poise and signature red lipstick.
In her later years Dawn was an avid Christian and never missed a Sunday at Antioch Missionary Baptist church. Each Sunday morning by 9:30 am she would be on the phone ensuring her son Sean, her daughter Sophia or her niece Simone took turns with the transportation to church.
On May 29th around 2pm Dawn fell as she awakened from a nap and her transition “home” began. She spent 24 days in the hospital then her master called her “home”. Dawn is survived by her two children, Sean Marshall and Sophia Marshall-Salazar; her brother, Anthony Hart; her nieces, Simone Ammon, Candy and Shelly-Ann Hart; her nephews, Cary, Robert, Roger, Lester, Richard and Wendell Hart and Raldian Jemmott; her grand-children, Stefan Donawa, Che and Shaquille Hart, Shayne and Shandon Marshall, Shianne, Sasha, Solange and Spencer Salazar; Great-Grand-children Leandro and Havalah Hart, Ezekiel and Ava Donawa, many more loving family members and friends, including her supportive church family. She is predeceased by her husband Arnold Henry, her son Paul Hart and her grandson Naje Hart, brothers Michael, Lester and Howard, her sister Sharleen and her mother Mavis Hart.
