Obituary of Frank Gilbert Triana
Please share a memory of Frank to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Frank Gilbert Triana 1933 – 2021. The Lord called him home in the early morning of Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at the age 88.
To all that knew him his gentle, loving, caring spirit left a permanent mark etched forever on the hearts he touched. He will be missed by his wife Silvia, who was not only the love of his life but also his best friend and spent 68 years of marriage together. Along with his wife Silvia, he is survived by their five children: Celia Ann Cue, Frank Triana, Jr. (Pamela), Charles Triana (Robin), Ann Marie Catedral (Eugene) and Marlies Gonzalez (Jose). Their daughter Lisa Marie Triana predeceased him.
Born January 15, 1933, in Manhattan, New York, Frank (Gilbert) spent his life as a hardworking, dedicated, faithful and loving man. He met his wife Silvia in 1949 while attending Gesu School in downtown Miami and they quickly became high school sweethearts. He served his country as a member of the Coast Guard during the Korean War not long after graduating high school. Soon after Silvia graduated, he married her.
Family was always the center of Frank’s life. He was proud of his family’s many accomplishments, willingly gave advice and was always quick to share thoughts and praise. He was honored by his family as the patriarch, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He has been a major presence in the lives of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. A proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren, a role he cherished. Beyond his immediate family, he also was quick to flash a smile, embrace a stranger to make them a friend and extend a hand to anyone who needed it.
During his lifetime he was a businessman, entrepreneur, civil servant, coach, and athlete. He loved to fish, he loved sports and coached many little league teams. But beyond that, he also was a caretaker to his parents and his mother-in-law. And he did all with honor and a humble heart. He always loved with a “no matter what” attitude.
He had a long-standing relationship with God and was very active in his local parish. He held on to his faith in Christ until the good Lord took him home. He was predeceased by his parents Carlos and Celia and his brother Rudy. He is survived by his brother Henry Triana.
He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Frank (Gilbert) will be forever remembered for his generous heart, quick wit, loyalty, honor, gentle eyes, and unconditional love. The expression of this love will resonate for many generations to come because this love was given without any expectation but to just comfort and bless the person who received it.
Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate his life and find comfort that he is in heaven, finally resting in the loving arms of his Lord.
