Obituary of Gilbert Labossiere

Gilbert Labossiere December 12, 1937 - January 6, 2022 Gilbert Labossiere, Sr., was born in Les Cayes, Haiti, on December 12, 1937. At the age of 84, Gilbert passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 6, 2022, in Hollywood, Florida, with his beloved wife of 52 years, Nelcy, by his side. An avid student in Haiti, Gilbert attended seminary school and worked as an accountant prior to migrating to the United States (Chicago, Illinois) in 1969 where he married his wife and fathered his three sons, Gilbert, Jr., Didier, and Alain. A dedicated father and provider, Gilbert attended Miami-Dade College in Miami, Florida, where he pursued a career in respiratory therapy. A career he maintained until his retirement in 2014 from Jackson Memorial Hospital. A bodybuilding enthusiast, skilled tailor, and a polyglot (Creole, French, Spanish, and English); Gilbert, above all, was known mostly for the love of his family – immediate and extended. Gilbert was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Labossiere, and his mother, Irmene Jason. He had six brothers: Jean, Maxime, Emilio, William, Franky and Jean-Marie; and four sisters: Josette, Nicole, Mireille, and Michelle. He is survived by his wife Nelcy Labossiere; his sons Gilbert Labossiere Jr., Didier Labossiere, and Alain Labossiere; and grandchildren Paloma Labossiere and Sasha Labossiere.
