Obituary of "Ginny" Virginia Dunigan

On the evening of February 3, 2022 Virginia "Ginny" Dunigan, affectionally known as “Ms Hollywood”, passed away peacefully amongst family. A funeral Mass will be held at 1pm, Friday, February 11, 2022, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church 701 North Hiatus Road, Pembroke Pines, Florida. Ginny was born on July 29, 1939, to Mary (Graves) and Robert Douglas and lived her childhood in Arlington Massachusetts. She was the oldest of three children. She was predeceased by her husband and partner of 57 years, James “Jim” Dunigan, her brother David Douglas and is survived by her brother Robert ‘Bob” Douglas of Revere, MA and her sister-in laws, Maureen Douglas (Derry NH) and Mary Dunigan (Estero FL). In addition to her brother and sister-in-laws, Ginny is survived by her three children, James "Jay" (spouse Claudia), Jill Coleman (partner Eddie) and Jeffrey (spouse Mendy); seven grandchildren, James IV "Jake” (spouse Ali) Patrick, Abby, Haley (spouse Caden), Sydney and Tyler Dunigan and John Paul Coleman (spouse Briana), and two great-grandchildren: Raegan and Ryerson. After graduating (1960) from Merrimack College (North Andover, MA), She and Jim were married in September 1961 and started their family in Loudonville, NY. Their married life took them to Charlton, NY, Marietta, GA, and Greensboro, NC. After the passing of Jim, Ginny moved to Flowery Branch, GA to be near Jeff and Mendy, then purchasing her final home near Jill and Eddie in Pembroke Pines, FL. Ginny was a secular Franciscan at the Franciscan Center in Greensboro NC, a volunteer at the St Francis Springs Prayer Center and part of many prayer groups from the Franciscans to one of her original prayer groups called “Sui Generis” in Charlton NY. Ginny started a successful sweater business, starting in NY taking it with her to Atlanta and Greensboro. She was a financial genius and later became one of the top 3 fragrance model sales consultants in the Southeast United States for the likes of Calvin Klein, YSL, Ralph Lauren and others. Often, she traveled with her life-long friend, and beloved, Jim, to all corners of the world, embracing all people with her elegance and Scottish sense of humor. Many childhood memories were made on her favorite Lake Winnipesaukee, where she learned to waterski and navigate one of the largest lakes in New England. Viewing hours will be at Joseph A. A man of the cloth whose presence, in both Ginny and Jim’s lives, over their many years in Greensboro was a source of laughter, solace, forgiveness and inspiration.
